CA.III.A — Communications, Light Signals, and Runway Lighting Systems

Objective: To determine that the applicant exhibits satisfactory knowledge, risk management, and skills associated with normal and emergency radio communications, ATC light signals, and runway lighting systems to conduct safe airport operations.

The applicant demonstrates understanding of:

The applicant demonstrates the ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks, encompassing:

• CA.III.A.R1Poor communication.
• CA.III.A.R2Failure to recognize and declare an emergency.
• CA.III.A.R3Confirmation or expectation bias.

Skills

The applicant demonstrates the ability to:

• CA.III.A.S1Select appropriate frequencies.
