IFR.VII.D — Approach with Loss of Primary Flight Instrument Indicators
Objective: To determine the applicant exhibits satisfactory knowledge, risk management, and skills associated with performing an approach solely by reference to instruments with the loss of primary flight control instruments.
Knowledge
The applicant demonstrates understanding of:
IR.VII.D.K2Common failure modes of vacuum and electric attitude instruments and how to correct or minimize the effect of their loss.
Risk Management
The applicant demonstrates the ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks, encompassing:
IR.VII.D.R2Failure to maintain airplane control.IR.VII.D.R3Distractions, loss of situational awareness, or improper task management.
Skills
The applicant demonstrates the ability to:
IR.VII.D.S2Complete a nonprecision instrument approach without the use of the primary flight instruments using the skill elements of the nonprecision approach Task (See Area of Operation VI, Task A).IR.VII.D.S3Demonstrate SRM.
